This set of plans were produced in 1985 and were available as a free pull-out in "Radio Control Boat Modeller" magazine in 1985. I retain the copyright for this plan, as I do for all my plans.
The plan was adapted and published by Traplet as MAR2437. You can still obtain this plan if you want to make a 1:16 scale model of an SR.N6 and don't want to do any drawing yourself.
The original plan was for a British Hovercraft Corporation (BHC) SR.N5 hovercraft. BHC stretched the SR.N5 by four frames to create the SR.N6, and you can do the same with this model plan if you want to make an SR.N6.
The frames on the full-size craft are 29" apart, so on the model they are 29/16" apart.
In time, I will add more drawings to make it easier for you to make a 1:16 scale SR.N6 model.
Some questions and answers:
Q) Can you make a 1:12 model from the plans?
A) Yes, but you need to scale the plans up by 16/12, which is 1 1/3 or 1.3333.
Q) Do I provide paper plans for the SR.N5 and SR.N6 in 1:16 scale?
A) Not yet, but I can provide paper plans for SR.N6 Mk5 welldeck model. Email me at mark at model-hovercraft.com
Q) Do I provide paper plans for the SR.N5 and SR.N6 in 1:12 scale?
A) That is more of a challenge, and is in my long-term plans
Q) What do I do if I need help?
A) Email me at the above email address, but remember that I have a day job so you may have to wait a week for a response
As I get a number of questions about this plan, I will add more instructions on this page over time.
